\u00a0<\/p>

The two main types of Borers that attack house timbers in South East Queensland are:<\/p>

  • Calymmaderus incises or Queensland Pine Beetle.<\/li><\/ul>

    \u00a0\"borer<\/p>

    Borers are mainly responsible for attacking hoop pine flooring in older Queenslander type homes.<\/p>

    A spray treatment to the under side of the flooring is done using a Permethrin Chemical called Perigan<\/em>.<\/p>

    A yearly treatment is required for three years then every second year as a maintenance.<\/p>

    More borers<\/h3>
    • Lyctus brunneus, or Powder Post Beetle.<\/li><\/ul>

      This is the other Borer that can damage timbers in a house. They attack sapwoods or some hardwoods such as Meranti, Eucalyptus and Oak.<\/p>

      Hardwood framed houses consist mainly of heartwood timber with a small amount of sapwood on the edge.<\/p>

      The Borer will only attack the sapwood and then go, as they do not eat the heartwood, treatment is very rarely needed.<\/p> <\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\t <\/div>\n\t \t<\/div>\n\t\t <\/div>\n\t \n\t<\/div>\n\t\n\t\t\n\t
